Alexander The Great

Lee Alexander McQueen,(17 March 1969 – 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer and couturier best known for his in-depth knowledge of bespoke British tailoring, his tendency to juxtapose female strength and sensuality with fragility in his collections, as well as the emotional power and raw energy of his provocative fashion shows. He is also known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 and for founding his own label under the name Alexander McQueen. His achievements in fashion earned him four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA's International Designer of the Year award in 2003.

Ayumi Hamasaki and Lady Gaga have often incorporated Alexander McQueen pieces in their music videos. By wearing his designs, celebrities such as the above mentioned have further increased the notability of the McQueen brand.

My personal favorite

By the end of 2007, Alexander McQueen had boutiques in London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan and Las Vegas. Celebrity patrons, including Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rihanna, J-Pop Queens such as Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, and Koda Kumi have frequently been spotted wearing Alexander McQueen clothing to events.

Sarah Burton, the creative director for the legendary, recently deceased Alexander McQueen, has the fashion world buzzing with the dazzling, fitted, long-sleeved lace gown she designed for Kate Middleton.

Alexander Mcqueen will always be one of my all time favorite designers.
It is a huge loss for the world of fashion.

That is all for now, hope you have enjoyed my Obesession Du Jour.

White lace dresses aro no longer for brides only
This trends as always started on the runways, and while there were white lace dresses galore to choose from, we'd like to draw your attention to the wonderful examples in Ralph Lauren and Brioni's S/S 11 collections. At the former, I noted a cowgirl couture vibe, where Victorian-inspired lace frocks were updated via charming western and silver accents. In the above runway look, Lauren paired a long-sleeved Embroidered Donovan Dress with a Small Fringe Bag with Beading  and Jerina Sandals. The contrast of the rustic accessories with the sweetly delicate frock keeps the overall look from being too costume-y, and results in a wearable ensemble that works well for a number of occasions. At Brioni, creative director Alessandro Dell'Acqua showcased a handful of awe-inspiring, shin-grazing, white lace dresses, like the Rebrode Sleeveless Lace Dress above.

I hope you have enjoyed my Obsession Du jour, that's all for now!
Much love :)
